Cynthia Dunbar, a lawyer from Richmond who is a strict constitutionalist and thinks the nation was founded on Christian beliefs, managed to cut Thomas Jefferson from a list of figures whose writings inspired revolutions in the late 18th century and 19th century, replacing him with St. Thomas Aquinas, John Calvin and William Blackstone.

I just don’t even know what to say here. This entire situation is wrong on a magnitude I don’t think I’ve experienced before, but this specific change is a great example of fractal wrongness.

One small problem: Not only has Rangel already stepped down, he did so more than a week ago and Carter even released an article on the subject. The only reason for choosing the former article over the latter is to scandalize the base.

It also shows that Carter is completely out of touch with the pace of information on the Internet. News is old at 24 hours, common knowledge at 48, and ancient history at a week. Pushing a three week old, obsolete release in Print is understandable; there’s deadlines and print leads to take into account. In email communications, you can entirely change the content up until the very second you hit “send.” If Rangel had stepped down half an hour before the newsletter, it could have been addressed. That he’d stepped down nine days prior and they still ran a story from weeks before demanding his resignation is just completely out of touch.

Milan Agnew, 21, of Manhattan, claimed Richard Belzer, 65, entered the upper West Side store yesterday, grabbed her by the shoulders, shook her, choked her and barked, “I need help!”

Belzer claims it was a joke. People get a little uptight about their Apple equipment though and, even if only a joke, it might hit a little close to home for some employees. I know of several instances where customers actually threw iPods at staffers, and once when someone actually hit an employee.

As you know, the vast majority of bills developed through reconciliation were passed by Republican Congresses and signed into law by Republican Presidents – including President Bush’s massive, budget-busting tax breaks for multi-millionaires. Given this history, one might conclude that Republicans believe a majority vote is sufficient to increase the deficit and benefit the super-rich, but not to reduce the deficit and benefit the middle class. Alternatively, perhaps Republicans believe a majority vote is appropriate only when Republicans are in the majority. Either way, we disagree.

The Texas Stars were assigned Jamie Benn, who’s been up in Dallas but only getting very light playing time, to help with their playoff run and provide Benn with some playoff hockey seasoning. I can only assume we’ll be seeing a lot of him in the remaining games.

Left off the Clear Day Roster were Luke Gazdic and Mathieu Tousignant. Tousignant was a no brainer, but Gazdic is a bit of a let down. He may only have 3 points this season, but he’s an Enforcer of the old school variety and when he’s on the ice, you can tell that the team seems to have just that little extra spring in their step. Warren Peters, Scott McCulloch, and Ray Sawada do a great job bringing the hurt to the opposing lines when Gazdic’s not available, but there’s just something different about this team when he’s laced up for the night.

Seeing this roster also brought to my attention Tyler Shelast’s demotion to the Allen Americans. I’m not sure why he went to Allen instead of Idaho, but hopefully he’ll see more playing time in the CHL. Shelast is considered one of Dallas’ best prospects and I hope to see him playing every day in Texas next year.

We had the privilege of seeing Chelio play in the AHL several times this year. It’s great to see him getting back to the NHL.

Tampa Bay Rays prized left-hander David Price, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft, left Wednesday’s 8-6 win over the Boston Red Sox in the bottom of the second inning after being hit on the right hand by the barrel of a shattered bat.

No word yet if it’s a maple. Probably dodged a bullet here, but we’re getting closer to the injury that’ll get maples banned outright.
