About Ungenius

Ungenius was originally my place to opine about my time as a Mac Genius, 2002-2006. At the time, Apple Retail was a nebulous and spooky thing, and public knowledge about the Mac Genius was even more so.

January 2010 saw the reboot of Ungenius as my personal blog. As the original Ungenius content was no longer accurate or useful, no public archive has been retained.

The Author

Jeremy Derr is from hilly Austin, Texas. His career path has always centered around the Mac ecosystem, leading him to such varied jobs as Help Desk Technician, Computer Repair Tech, Call Center Technical Support, and Mac Genius.

In 2006, Jeremy left Apple Computer, Inc., and founded his own company, Heroic Efforts, where he employs a small team of data recovery specialists. Shortly afterwards, he started a software company with close friend Adam Knight, where they began writing for the Mac and wound up in the iPhone market.

Jeremy has previously been featured in a May 2007 article in Mac|Life magazine.

He lives amidst the corn fields of Central Texas, drives a 1962 Nova Convertible, still plays baseball every weekend, married his high school sweetheart, and has two cats.
